Established in 2019 and renewed in 2024, CRUK RadNet Manchester is a Radiation Research Centre of Excellence that is part of a UK-wide network. CRUK RadNet Manchester works in collaboration with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and The University of Manchester to develop an integrated world-leading radiation oncology programme working towards individualised personalised physical and biological testing based on real-time outcomes and a mechanistic understanding of the tumour microenvironment, immune response, comorbidity and genomics.
RadNet Manchester builds on over a century of research into radiotherapy research across three research themes and two cross-cutting themes:
- Radiation-induced local and systemic immune modulation
- Tumour microenvironment, cancer evolution and therapy resistance
- Inclusive and personalised radiotherapy for complex patients
- Cross-cutting: research inclusivity and proton vs photon radiotherapy across all research schemes
